Privacy Policy
When you interact with us and/or our web site we may collect two kinds of information from you: Personally identifiable information, and Non-personally identifying information. Each will be discussed separately below. If you have any additional questions, please contact us.

Personally identifiable information.
When you initially contact us directly through our web site, by phone, fax, email, visit our office, or when you contact us through the web site or call center of a 3rd party we have a business relationship with, we may collect personally identifiable information that you knowingly provide, including but not limited to: your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address. At the time of initial contact we may also collect summary information about your individual situation and/or the type of product or service you are interested in.

When you sign up for our services we will collect additional information from you on an as-needed basis that will facilitate those services. This information may include but is not limited to: Billing information such as credit card numbers or bank account number; Your tax information such as your social security number and copies of tax records such as tax returns, W2?s, 1099?s, and other tax related documents; Financial information such as bank statements, broker statements, retirement account statements and/or other “account” statements; Bookkeeping records such as income and expense ledgers, profit and loss statements, invoices, receipts, or canceled checks.

Use and Disclosure of personally identifiably information.
We do not share, sell, or rent personally identifiably information to or with 3rd parties. Where and when permitted by law, we may use your contact information to communicate with you marketing information about products and services we provide. If you wish to limit such communication please contact us. Instructions on how to limit such communications are also included in each marketing communication.

We may use your information to provide tax preparation services or to provide other tax related services, to the extent necessary to provide those services. While performing tax related services, we may disclose, as appropriate, your information to the Internal Revenue Service, or to a State, County, or City taxing authority.

We adhere to U.S. Treasury regulation §301.7216, which regulates the use and disclosure of tax related information. We will never disclose your information to any other government or law enforcement agency without being served a proper and valid subpoena for such information. Should we need to disclose your information to any other 3rd party in order to facilitate service to you, we will first obtain your consent. If you ask us to provide your information to a 3rd party, we may ask you to provide consent for such disclosure in writing.

Non-personally identifying information.
Non-personally identifying information, or “NPI” is information that may correspond to a particular person, but is practically insufficient to identify, contact or locate the person to whom such information pertains. The NPI we collect is anonymous. An example of NPI that we may collect would be the combination of an IP Address, date and time, URL of web page visited, and URL of referring page.

When you visit our website, or interact with any of our online advertisements, you are providing us with NPI. We may store or log this information on our servers, and/or also use web browser cookies to anonymously track your use of our web site.

Use and Disclosure of NPI
We use NPI by aggregating the information and then performing analysis that helps us learn how to improve our web site by providing more content that may interest our visitors. We may also disclose NPI to advertising partners, as needed to evaluate the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. For example, our site uses Google Analytics. As you interact with our site, NPI is sent to Google’s web servers.

Information Security
The Security of your personal information is important to us. We follow generally accepted policies and procedures to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and subsequent storage. Once received, we employ access controls that limit access to only authorized The Tax Defense Group employees, or agents contracted by The Tax Defense Group to perform services to our clients.

Children Under Age 13
We do not market our web site to persons less than 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed toward persons who are older than 13 years.
