Innocent Spouse Relief

The IRS can sometimes give you the responsibility of settling your spouse or ex-spouse’s tax balance. If your spouse or ex-spouse caused this tax problem without your knowledge or you had no part in these actions, you can fill out an IRS form to have these tax problems removed. The form is called IRS Form 8857 and it is a request for tax resolution for “innocent spouse relief”.
